We are very resilient people in the UK, and I am sure as we continue to see restrictions lift following the government’s roadmap, we will beat the virus, get the country back on track and return to “normal life”. But it will take time. However, if you are one of those who are “between Jobs” or who are concerned for the future now is the time to get planning. You need to make it a job of finding a new job.
The good news in the budget was that the furlough scheme is being extended and help for the self-employed has also been extended to September. The next key date is in May when hospitality venues can re-open.
We recently held a webinar with Simon Rickman, Director from Peak Performance & Potential and Claire Bishop, Operations Director at the CICM. The title was The Habits for Highly Effective Job Seeking and it was aimed at those who are either currently looking for a new job or those who think that their current position may be unsecure.
So, let’s get creative and get the best out of the Interview process. You need to be able to answer the following questions:
- Can you do the job?
- Will you do the job?
- Will you fit in with the team and organisation?
What you need to do:
- Focus on what you can do. Research the company and align your achievements
- Prepare and practice interviewing. Be aware of your body language
- Remember “There is no such thing as failure there is just a delay in results”
- Also access CICM Redundancy Help & Advice via the web site. www.cicm.com
There is a recording of the webinar available with a lot more information.
